The light comes out very quickly, and there is no pain when hitting the skin. I recommend starting with the lowest energy and slowly increasing the energy when the skin adapts. First I have been using the 808nm diode laser hair removal machine about once a week on my armpits, about once every two weeks on my full legs. Honestly, it is not painful at all for me. It can feel hot at times but I wouldn't call it painful. I see a great reduction in hair, it grows much more slowly and there are patches of hair not growing back at all. I also haven't had any ingrown or irritation on any area.

I’m one of those people that has to shave daily, and when I do I get terrible razor burn and ingrown hairs. This diode laser hair removal machine has actually really helped with all of that! The treatments are not painful, I honestly don’t feel them at all on the highest setting, unless it’s on some raw skins, like scratch, bug bite, etc. While I’ve only used this on my face, I plan on using this helpful equipment somewhere else.
